Second Australian Sintering Symposium

The second Australian sintering symposium brought together 25 key researchers from across industry and academia to share research results and to identify and exploit synergies between research groups. Jointly organised by the ARC Iron Ore and Steel Hubs, the symposium was held in Wollongong with attendees from BHP, BlueScope Steel, CSIRO and the Universities of Newcastle, Wollongong, Queensland and South Australia. The symposium comprised 17 invited presentations covering topics in iron ore granulation, sinter melt formation, sinter mineralogy, sinter quality and current industrial practice. A third symposium is planned for 2018, with topics extended into the behaviour of ferrous materials in the ironmaking blast furnace.
